Cassandra Clare - City of Heavenly Fire

For some reason there was very little time this last few weeks to read. I even go to bed without a glimpse into my nightstandbook, which is happening not very often, so... this is why it took me so long to finish this one ;-)

City of Heavenly Fire is the last of 6 installments of the mortal instruments saga. I read all of them, but this is the only one I read in English.

Sebastian and his dark shadowhunters break into various institutes, and either turns or kills the shadowhunters living there. Emma and Julian (the young heros of the next series) manage to make it through a portal to Idris.
In the meantime life is as "normal" as can be for Clary and her friends. Jace learns to manage the heavenly fire in his veigns, Clary and Simon do their christmasshopping, Alec learns to cope with his broken heart... Due to Sebastians recent attacks all shadowhunters are brought to Idris, so Clary and the others have to say goodbye for an unknown time to Simon (who gets problems with Maureens clan and then help from a very unexpected person, and eventually makes it to Idris as well).
War against Sebastian and his allies is breaking out, and it seems, that nothing can be done to save the world...

mini SPOILER:

In the beginning, I thought, that this will be a standard teenie drama, with the obligatory super happy ending and some "and all was well" (no offence ment). However, even if everything is well in the end, it is a very hard way to get there. I often pitied the main characters and had the one or other tear sneaking into my eyes during reading this book. I really think, that Clare did a good, not too kitschy job in writing this end. I award 9 out of 10.

Currently I am reading "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" by Neil Gaiman.
